Every June, Alta Pusteria invites you to the Choir Festival, which presents an inspiring programme and numerous choirs
In 1998, a unique festival was founded in the Val Pusteria: It was intended to serve as a platform for choirs to present themselves to a wide audience, exchange ideas and demonstrate the great diversity and repertoire of the choirs. All of this takes place in a non-competitive form. In the previous 25 editions of the Alta Pusteria Choir Festival, more than 1,300 choirs from 49 countries were represented, making it known today also as the "Festival of the Thousand Choirs".
Many people singing together is probably the simplest description of a choir: But what is possible and how varied and inspiring the repertoire can be is demonstrated every year at the Alta Pusteria International Choir Festival in June. The festival programme includes about 60 performances in the form of concerts, outdoor revues and meeting days, where each choir can present its own ideas. It takes place in places like Monguelfo (Welsberg) and San Candido (Innichen) over five days, and includes the welcome party, the parade of the choirs and the closing ceremony.
