In every part of the region, from the Upper Val Pusteria to Bressanone and surroundings, and from the Val Venosta valley to the south of South Tyrol, there are horse farms and idyllic riding stables offering rides out, lessons or pony rides for children. In the spa town of Merano, however, there is the worldwide renowned Merano-Maia Hippodrome where the Haflinger Gallop Races take place.
Also other events are dedicated to horses and their riders, such as the famous Medieval Knight Games South Tyrol in high summer and the Oswald von Wolkenstein Ride, one of the biggest equestrian spectacles of South Tyrol, in late spring. In winter, however, horse-drawn sleigh rides are very popular: They show you the most beautiful places of the region wrapped in a blanket.
