The mountains offer recreation, but also some dangers: If you know and avoid them, you can enjoy the day to the full
"It is not the mountain that you conquer, but your own self.", as Edmund Hillary (1919-2008), the first climber of Mount Everest, already knew. And also in South Tyrol's mountains, freedom seems boundless. With the consideration of a few rules, also in absolute safety:
Precautions:
- Pay attention to the weather and proper clothing
- Do not light fires, they can get out of control
- Inform yourself about the difficulty of the hike
- Do not leave the marked paths
- Inform someone where you are hiking to
- Take a first aid kit and the EU Emergency Number 112 with you
Dealing with nature:
- Respect nature and take rubbish back home
- Don't pick flowers, many of them are protected
- Don't be noisy, the animals will thank you for it
- Respect wildlife and their habitat, including cows in the pastures
Hiking with children:
- Choose easy paths without precipices and steep sections
- Find out if refuges are open (refreshments)
- Take enough water and sun cream with you
- Plan to take breaks (the indicated time can be considerably longer)
