Today we decided to do a mountain tour in the Sarentino Alps. The starting point for the tour to the Monte Pascolo starts at the so-called Garner Wetterkreuz, located above the eponymous mountain village above Velturno. From this place we we follow the gravel path towards the Monte Pascolo and branch off on a more narrow path in the forest. First we walk up the forest, then we reach beautiful Alpine meadows and our path is lined by rushing mountain rivers.
The path to Mt. Pascolo (Königsangerspitze) leads to the Brugger Schupfe mountain hut, a possibility to stop, as well as the Glanger Kasolm, but we stay on the path no. 10. Leaving behind the forest, the view becomes more and more impressive. The Odle mountains, the Sciliar, the Catinaccio and many more Dolomite peaks rise up in front of us, only 10 km of linear distance away. Also the view down to the Valle Isarco is highly impressive. We walk on on a narrow mountain path, up the Alpine meadows, following the path no. 10.
We reach a junction where you have the possibility to take the route to the Rifugio Lago Rodella mountain hut (Radlseehütte), but we take the path no. 10A towards the summit, which is reached after a two hours' walk. This is where we enjoy the fantastic panoramic view and our packed lunch, before we walk back on the same route. You can also choose the way down on path no. 7 via Lake Rodella and the eponymous mountain hut (2,284 m a.s.l.), ideal for a stop.
