Nice walk from San Leonardo near Sant’Andrea to the Malga Ochsenalm, with a great view on the valley basin of Bressanone

This nice walk takes us from San Leonardo to a cosy mountain hut above S. Andrea and Bressanone. Starting point for this tour is the parking space Ackerboden near San Leonardo, which can be reached via S. Andrea. The path starts some metres from the parking space and leads steeply through the forest. Time and again we are able to catch a glimpse of the surrounding mountains, as the forest is rather dense. When the forest clears up for the first time, we reach the Ackerboden mountain hut (1,762 m a.s.l.), which is a nice place for a stop.
But short before reaching the mountain hut, we turn off to the right, following the signpost no. 6. Finally the forest clears up again and we enjoy the view on Bressanone, the Valle Isarco and the nearby Plose. On a wide trail we reach the Malga Ochsenalm (2,071 m), where a stop is an absolute must. This small mountain hut is open and offers a sun terrace as well as a great view.
We walk the same way back. For mountain bikers, there is a forested trail taking from the parking space to the mountain hut, only for experienced athletes with kilter.
