Crisp hiking tour on the Monte Tramontana in the Val Venosta valley: to the mountain hut and further along the rock face on the marble mountain Croda Jenne up to the magical Lake Covelano

Starting point of the mountain tour to the Lago di Covelano lake is the Haslhof snack station on the Monte Tramontana above Silandro. First gently ascending and then flat through the forest, path no. 2 leads to the Covelano Mountain Hut (Göflaner Alm).
At the Köhlplätze crossroads we follow the "Göflaner Marmorweg" (Covelano Marble Trail), which leads us, now steeper, directly to the mountain hut. The hut is the only refreshment point along the way and is located in the middle of a clearing at the foot of the Croda Jenne mountain. From here we follow path no. 3 towards Lake Covelano (Göflaner See). Through the valley, which is characterised by marble mining, the route now passes the Covelano marble quarry and continues up to the scree slopes below the Croda Jenne and Hörnele mountains. The path gets steeper, soon the last part of the way up leads over rocks to the final destination. The secured rock passage is the most difficult part of the tour, the easy via ferrata is no problem for experienced hikers.
In a gentle hollow it then lies in front of us, the light blue shimmering Lake Covelano. The descent follows the same path. The lake, but also beautiful larch forests and the view towards the main Alpine ridge are the highlights of this hiking tour, which is entirely within the national park area.
