This hike leads from the Passo Stalle, which connects the Valle di Anterselva in South Tyrol with the Defereggen Valley in East Tyrol, via Lake Obersee to the Malga Stalle mountain hut

We reach the starting point at the Passo Stalle (Staller Sattel, 2,052 m a.s.l.) via the Valle di Anterselva valley. Due to the particularly narrow road there is one-way traffic here: Every hour the pass is open for 15 minutes for ascent and descent. Before we start our hike, we enjoy the panorama on Lake Anterselva and the surrounding mountains from the Passo Stalle.
On the Austrian side we take path no. 113 towards the Malga Staller mountain hut (Staller Alm). After a few hundred metres we reach Lake Obersee. Here we are in the High Tauern National Park. The alpine roses are in full bloom and give the lake a colourful frame.
Now we walk along the northern side of the lake and after a total walking time of about one hour we reach the Stalle Mountain Hut (1,957 m a.s.l.), where we stop for lunch at the Ausserweger Mountain Hut. The way back follows the same route, but for a change we walk along the southern side of Lake Obersee.
