This circular walk at the southern slope of the Cresta del Giovo ridge is perfect to enjoy the sunbeams of the last days in October

An almost cloud-free sky at the sunny slopes of the Val Passiria valley awaits us. We start our hike in the village centre of Valtina along the Passo di Giovo road and follow first the trail no. 17 down the valley towards San Leonardo, and then the path no. 9A towards Glaiten and Stulles. Due to the early morning hours, this first section still lies in the shadow. We meet the first sunbeams at the trasmission tower in Eck near Glaiten and enjoy a wonderful view on the Val Passiria valley.
The "Sonnenweg" (Sun Path) leads us through the meadows and mountain pastures downhill to the small church dedicated to the Saints Christopher and Hippolytus. Glaiten is a sparse settlement in a sunny position. We continue our hike on the trail no. 9, partly on asphalt roads and partly on forest paths. Past some beautiful waterfalls we reach the hamlet of Stulles (Stuls) located on a small terrace above the valley.
After a lunch break (several rest points can be found in Stulles, e.g. the Kronhof tavern) the trail no. 10A proceeds to the St. Anthony Chapel and further on to Moso (Moos). From this village on the valley floor we return to our starting point by bus (change at San Leonardo).
