A spring walk on the tracks of the awakening nature at the slopes of the Valle dell’Adige valley
Image gallery: Hike along the Way of St. James Andriano - Nalles
Our hike starts in Andriano (Andrian), amidst blooming fruit trees. We follow the path no. 5 which leads us to the edge of the valley. From the alluvial fan of the Rio Gaido brook we walk slightly uphill to the forest, along a nice wide path towards north-west.
The route is part of the Way of St. James (Jakobsweg). Little terraces with fruit trees interrupt the forest, we follow the path no. 5B and finally reach some farms, among them also the Bittnerhof farm inn, where we take a short rest. Soon after having crossed the little valley of the Rio Pletterbach we come to Payersburg Castle. Past the beautiful castle we take the path downhill to Nalles (Nals, no. 9). The village is also known as the Village of the Roses, but now in April especially tulips decorate fields and gardens. After the bend at the Swan Castle (Schwanburg) we reach the village centre with the baroque St. Ulrich Church.
To come back to Andriano, we take the path no. 5A in the valley which follows the asphalt road and proceeds partly through the broadleaf forest. Filled with nice impressions we finish our circular walk in the village centre of Andriano with a drink.
