In autumn, during the Törggele season, we do this circular walk on the sunny slopes above Cortaccia on the Wine Road up to the village of Penone and to the Himmelspforte tavern

When November makes the landscape on the South Tyrolean Wine Road shine in bright colours, it is the best time for a hike between forest and cultural landscape. Our little hiking tour starts in the village of Niclara (Entiklar), about one km south of Cortaccia on the Wine Road. From the small parking space below the Lady Chapel we follow the Via Franz Fenner road uphill.
The road leads directly up to the village of Penone (Penon, 600 m a.s.l.). It takes about 1 hour to get there, along the way we can enjoy the view on the valley, the landscape on the wine trail and even a small waterfall. Arrived in Penone we pass the St. Nicholas Church and walk towards north (no. 5). The path leads us straight to the Himmelspforte tavern (pearly gates tavern) at the junction to the hamlet of Hofstatt. We continue our walk slightly uphill to the hamlet which is surrounded by wineries. Several places to stop, which are open during the Törggele season, can be found here.
Via the trails 2 and 2b we descend down into the valley to Cortaccia again. Rich in impressions we walk the last section along the wine road back to Niclara, where our circular hike ends.
