Thanks to the Rablà-Riolagundo and Lana-Monte San Vigilio Cable Cars we can do this comfortable autumnal hike
Image gallery: Autumn hike to Monte San Vigilio
Straight behind the train station in Rablà (Rabland), the valley station of the Riolagundo Cable Car is located. It takes us up to the mountain village, where our hike starts. We follow the marker no. 28, which proceeds first into the village centre and then uphill.
Following the marker no. 28A we walk uphill to the Black Lake (Lago Nero in Italian, Schwarze Lacke in German), a mountain lake beneath Mt. San Vigilio (Vigilljoch, about 1 hour uphill). In the little lake the sky, forest and the Seespitz Tavern are reflected, which is the first rest point today. From here the Monte San Vigilio with its church is not far anymore. A magic place which offers views on the mountains of the Val d'Ultimo valley, the Tessa Group and the Dolomites.
Straight beneath the little church, the mountain tavern Jocher is located, also a popular rest point. Now our descent starts, we walk along the forest road which proceeds to the mountain station of the Monte San Vigilio Cable Car. By cable car we come down to Lana and by bus and train we finally come back to Rablà.
