In the past it was the Royal Festival, now it’s called the Naz-Sciaves Blossom Festival: The Apple Queen still takes part
More than two decades ago, a truly royal festival was created in Naz-Sciaves, the plateau near Bressanone in the Isarco Valley. The "Largest Meeting of Royal Highnesses in South Tyrol" brought together the Apple Queen and other crowned heads of farm products from near and far in the village every first of May. On this day, the high-quality farm products were and still are celebrated as well as the apple blossom, which transforms the area into a sea of blossoms.
The name was recently changed to Blossom Festival (Blütenfest). South Tyrolean delicacies, stalls, live music and lived culture characterise this feast day. The procession at the beginning of the festival, performances of the Schuhplattler, a morning pint and the gourmet mile are split between the morning and afternoon, while the supporting programme with hikes and workshops extends over the entire week. The Apple Queen of Naz-Sciaves is crowned every year after the apple harvest. Then it's time to celebrate again: The popular Naz-Sciaves Apple Festival takes place.
