Just when the summer of 2024 was coming to an end in the mountains of South Tyrol, a new themed trail was inaugurated in the Vallunga valley in Selva Gardena: It takes you to "Valtoi, the Kingdom of the Senses". The famous minstrel Oswald von Wolkenstein and Pia, the Queen of the Skies, accompany all those who want to sharpen their senses: Seven newly designed pyramids tell the story of the young knight Oswald von Wolkenstein and the eagle princess Pia.
Huge flowers, an adventure fortress and friendly cows - all made of wood - stand in the middle of the Dolomites and are intended to appeal to the senses and enable a playful discovery of nature. There is also an owl forest, and a 350 metre long sensory and barefoot trail through the mysterious dark forest with a trout pond, a shimmering golden labyrinth and real roof shingles. Well, how does it feel? The theme park "Valtoi - Kingdom of Senses" (Valtoi - Reich der Sinne) was realised in collaboration with local craftsmen and Cademia, the provincial vocational school for arts and crafts, and was designed in a deliberately creative and traditional way.
By the way: In the Sciliar area, there are more places and paths dedicated to the minstrel, including the Oswald von Wolkenstein Trail near Siusi allo Sciliar, about 20 kilometres away.
