Boat Trips

Water attracts the attention of adults and kids - what is particularly exciting is a boat trip on one of South Tyrol’s lakes

South Tyrol does not offer open seas, but nevertheless there are several possibilities to experience the area from the water. "Sail ahoy" from July to October on the largest artificial lake of South Tyrol, Lake Resia in the Upper Val Venosta, on the MS Hubertus. The captain of the boat is going to tell you more about the flood in the villages of Curon and Resia. From the water, you can also get very close to the flooded Church Tower of Lake Resia.

Let's go to the lakes in the south of South Tyrol: At the shores of famous Lake Caldaro you can rent paddle-boats and rowing boats and experience the lake from a different perspective. Very popular is stand up paddleboarding. Also at the neighbouring Big and Small Lake of Monticolo, approx. 7 km away, and at the Fiè Pond near the Alpe di Siusi, 33 km away from Caldaro, you can rent boats. Round the latter, there is a keep-fit trail for a long walk.

In the Val Pusteria valley, however, Lake Braies is ideal for a boat trip. Boats can be rent at the beginning of the trail round the lake. Face to face with Mt. Croda del Becco and the rough rock faces of the Dolomites, boat riding is particularly romantic here. A little tip on the brink: Lake Braies is a mountain lake, also in high summer it might get rather fresh in this place. Don't forget warm clothes! Once you visit the Val Pusteria: Also at the shores of Lake Dobbiaco, there is a boat rental. Enjoy your boat trips and... sail ahoy!
