In lakes such as Lake Braies in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park, swimming is not expressly prohibited, but due to the fact that the area is protected, as few animals and humans as possible should go swimming in the waters. If forestry authorities are on site, they may indicate that fact.
In the Monticolo Lakes in Appiano dogs are not allowed to swim during the bathing season between May 15 and September 15 namely at the following locations: Big Monticolo Lake: at the Lido, at the two rocks and at the meadow, at the access point to the lake opposite the Lido - Small Monticolo Lake: at the Lido and at the first three access points to the lake north of the Lido.
Furthermore, for hygienic reasons the access for dogs to all public bathing beaches is not allowed, e.g. at Lake Caldaro and the Issengo Pond. Also on other lakes, such as Lake Tret or Lake Favogna (both biotopes), there are prohibition signs.
