“Rebe” Wine Trail

A new wine hiking trail leads you along an elaborate “wine staircase” from one wine-growing community to the next

One of the most beautiful themed trails in Bolzano (Bozen) is the new "Rebe" Wine Trail, which connects the Renon High Plateau with the outskirts of the town. The Renon and Bolzano are both well-known wine-growing communities in South Tyrol, where the vines thrive at best. This was probably one of the reasons why a hiking trail was recently built on the sunny slopes, right through the well-kept vineyards of the farmers of Signato, Santa Giustina and Rencio.

The route is about 3.5 km long and has a gradient of about 500 metres. It takes just over an hour to complete as it is designed to be done preferably downhill. Artistically designed installations along the trail show the different vineyard locations, the wine types and forms of cultivation, and the history behind viticulture, which dates back to Roman times in South Tyrol. These stations have names like "Encounter of Man and Nature", "Harvest" and "Wine City of Bolzano".

Panoramic views are included. Sturdy shoes are necessary!
