5.5 km through the vineyards around the medieval town of Chiusa - that’s wine hiking on the slopes of Coste (Laitach)
One of three wine trails in the Valle Isarco valley - in addition to the Bressanone Vineyard Trail and the Valle Isarco Wine and Apple Trail - leads through the vineyards of Chiusa (Klausen). The medium-difficulty circular hike follows the sunny vineyards of Laitach, or Coste, and provides information along the way about viticulture in the Valle Isarco valley: The Sylvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Kerner and Riesling grape varieties predominate here. Wine hiking is becoming increasingly popular also in South Tyrol: This way you can experience wine culture in a special way, and combine the beautiful nature with the tasting of the local wines.
The 5.5 km long journey along the Laitach Wine Hiking Trail starts at the Chiusa outdoor pool. First follow the main road along trail no. 3 (signpost "Weinwanderweg") to the 4th bend of the Via Masi road of Leitach. There a field path branches off, leading through the vineyards of Laitach and up to the Hienghof at 715 m a.s.l., a wine tavern and Törggele farm. It offers a magnificent view.
Then the route leads back down into the valley via the wooded Lottergraben and the crossroads to Velturno. By the way: Each year at the end of May, the wines of Chiusa are also celebrated at the "Sabiona" Valle Isarco White Wine Festival. Walking time: approx. 2 hours.
