The nature and wine trail “Hoher Weg-Gschleier” leads through the vineyards around Cornaiano, the sunny terrace of Appiano
The Wine Trail in Cornaiano (Weinlehrpfad Girlan) leads past 15 bilingual stations that tell about the work in the vineyard and the vines themselves. It is also designated as a nature trail, because in addition to beautiful views on the Dolomites, Mt. Catinaccio and Bolzano, and lush vines, you will encounter 100 different plant species that were planted by volunteers in three years of work: Flowers, shrubs and grasses that you would otherwise simply walk past.
You can also see traditional dry stone walls, where the spaces between the stones are not filled with mortar, and various vine systems, such as arbours and trellises. The pleasant 1.6 km long circular hike starts at the church of Cornaiano, and then leads along the Via Molino path to the Wine Educational Trail. The trail leads almost flat through the vineyards of Cornaiano, up to a maximum of 450 m a.s.l., and then loops back to the starting point. Recommended especially in spring and also in autumn during the vintage period. Walking time: approx. 40 minutes.
