One of the most beautiful hikes around Bressanone leads through the vineyards of the Valle Isarco valley
For 11 km, the Bressanone Vineyard Trail winds through the vineyards and historic villages of Bressanone and the surrounding area to the Novacella Abbey, which is well worth a visit and also produces its own wines. Medieval alleys, typical dry stone walls and rustic wine taverns that invite you to stop for a bite to eat line the path besides numerous vineyards. This hike is especially recommended in autumn, as the Isarco Valley is one of the central Toerggele areas in the country.
The starting point of the Vineyard Trail - "Weinbergweg Brixen" in German, "Sentiero dei Vigneti di Bressanone" in Italian - is the Ponte Aquila bridge in the town of Bressanone. From there, the leisurely hike leads through the medieval alleys via the district of Kranebitt to Elvas, with magnificent views on the bishop's town and its surroundings. Via the Raiermoos biotope, the route then descends to the Novacella Monastery and back to Bressanone. The monastery offers vineyard tours with tasting of the own wines on request. Walking time: approx. 3.5 hours.
