The Caldaro Initiative wein.kaltern and the South Tyrolean Sommelier Association joined forces a few years ago and opened the South Tyrolean Wine Academy (Südtiroler Weinakademie). In this way, knowledge on the subject of wine is conveyed to all interested people in a suitable setting: in the headquarters at the main square of the wine village. There, a team of instructors with great know-how, and a wide range of courses and educational programmes awaits you.

The focus is on wine, beer and delicacies. The courses on offer include the popular "Little Wine ABC", tastings, and workshops. Those who prefer beer instead of wine can take part in a culinary evening in which beer experts explain the different styles and flavours of the hop juice. The offer is rounded off by courses on specific foods such as meat, South Tyrolean Speck, and cheese.

The training reaches to the degree of Master of Wine resp. licensed beer expert. And how can the South Tyrolean Wine Academy be reached? There are parking spaces (chargeable) around the main square in Caldaro village, and public buses also stop nearby.
