In the Val d'Ultimo is the only National Park House outside the Val Venosta. From Santa Gertrude, the road continues for a short distance to Lake Fontana Bianca, which is already located in the Stelvio National Park. Fittingly, the visitor centre, which is devoted to the topic "Forest and Wood", is housed in a centuries-old Venetian sawmill. The importance of the forest for man and nature is shown in the National Park House as well as the processing of a tree trunk into a board in the sawmill and the grinding of the grain into flour in the adjacent mill.
Children can look forward to an outdoor area and the special exhibition "Flowers - Meadows - Life". Also after the visit you may continue your nature experience: In the surroundings of the lahnersäge National Park House (Nationalparkhaus lahnersäge) there are the Ancient Larch Trees in the Val d'Ultimo. The info point stays open also in winter - then you can do some walks on the snow, like the winter hike on the Ultimo Farm Trail or the snowshoe hike in Fontana Bianca.

The lahnersäge National Park House stays open in summer and in winter, closed on public holidays, in spring (end of March to the end of April) and in autumn (November until Christmas).
Winter season start 2024/2025 on December 27, summer season start 2025 in early May.
