Bagni di Lavina Bianca, a component locality of Tires, is the beautiful spot where one of the two information points of the Catinaccio-Sciliar Nature Park is located. Until some years ago, the Steger Saw itself housed the visitor centre before it moved to the new building in Siusi allo Sciliar. This sawmill at the entrance to the Ciamin Valley was restored and also shows the living quarters of the saw master. Inside, you can expect a journey through the craft traditions and culture of the mountain regions of South Tyrol, through the interesting history of geology and, of course, through the flora and fauna of the Catinaccio-Sciliar Nature Park. In the summer months you can visit it, as well as the second information point at the Fiè Pond, and let yourself be enchanted.
A visit is perfecty combinable with a hike: In Bagni di Lavina Bianca there's a hikers parking space which represents the starting point for easy and more challenging tours. A classic hike takes you to the Monte Cavone Mountain Hut and then up to the peak of Monte Balzo, leading past the beautiful Wuhnleger Pond. The above mentioned Ciamin Valley stretches across the southern side of the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park and winds its way between the mountain walls.
