The Vedrette di Ries-Aurina or Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park has more glaciers than any other nature park in South Tyrol. Together with the protected area Zillertaler Hauptkamm - the Zillertal Main Crest -, the two reserves cover an area of 2,741 sqkm and form thus the biggest nature sanctuary in Europe. The nature park includes the municipalities of Campo Tures, Gais, Perca, Rasun-Anterselva, Valle Aurina and Predoi - that's to say the Val Pusteria, Valle di Tures and Valle Aurina valleys - and shows you wonderful places such as the valley head in Casere, the Riva Waterfalls, and biotopes like the Aurino Floodplain Forest and the "Wasserwaldile".
In the east, the nature park is bounded by the Passo Stalle and the Austrian border, in the south-east by the Valle di Anterselva and in the south by the Val Pusteria. Two nature trails snake their way through this landscape: At Lake Anterselva, the Lake Anterselva Nature Trail has been realised. It is a round path with 16 interesting stations about the characteristics of the area. Furthermore, the Valle di Rio Mollino Nature Trail takes you on a journey through time. A bit longer in this valley is the pleasant hike to the Valle di Rio Molino mountain pastures.
