Parts of the nature reserve are covered by mixed forests, while the Fiè Pond is situated in the middle of a pine forest. The area of the lake - a popular summer destination - is one hectare, at least half of which has proven to be an especially valuable biotope. Look forward to a unique flora and fauna at the heart of an untouched natural scenery. The Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park is home to such animals as the red crossbill, the willow tit and the golden eagle, a majestic bird of prey, as well as the Alpine chough - recognizable by its acrobatic gliding - and the chamois.
Furthermore it boasts a rich number of flowers such as the Crocus and the alpine rose, the Primula and the Armeria, the Campanula morettiana and the Rampion. On the flower meadows of the Siusi Alp, there are also the Saxifraga, the snowbell and the cottongrass. Sometimes you'll even see a camel: Of course it's not part of the local fauna, but spends summer on the alpine pastures of the Tuff Mountain Hut, a popular excursion destination, 45 minutes away from the Fiè Pond.
