The Monte Roen (2,116 m a.s.l.) is the highest peak of the Mendola Ridge, and the highest one of the whole Nonsberg Group. The rather flat peak is situated on the territory of the Trentino and resembles a high plateau, on its feet in South Tyrol the village of Termeno on the Wine Road can be found. The view from the top is breath-taking, gazing out over the Dolomites, the mighty Ortles, the south of South Tyrol and to the Brenta Group and Adamello-Presanella Alps in the Trentino.
Mt. Roen, simply called Roen in German, is also popular with hikers, as its summit is easy to reach. From the Mendola Pass - reachable by car or with the Mendola Funicular - the top can be scaled within a 3-hour walk. The hike across mountain pine forests is of medium difficulty and leads past several possibilities to stop for a rest, such as the Mezzavia, Genziana and Romeno Mountain Huts. It can be done also on two wheels, e.g. during the MTB tour to Mt. Roen and the Giogo di Corona.
