Tractor and Vespa Museum

Vintage tractors and scooters - an unusual combination you can admire in the outbuilding of the Ungericht Tavern in Caines at the entrance to the Passiria Valley. Over 60 vintage tractors, including 40 Porsche-Diesel and five Porsche-Diesel Master models of various years, gleam here in red, green, and light blue. The oldest tractor in the collection, a "Balilla" from the Milanese Motomeccanica Balilla dating back to 1929, is a particular highlight.

Franz Laimer Pixner, the owner of the Ungericht Farm, has been fascinated by tractors since childhood. Back then, they were also used by the fire brigade, for example, to tow the fire pump to the scene of an emergency. These childhood memories ignited his passion for collecting.

His enthusiasm extends not only to tractors but also to Vespas. He has amassed around 35 scooters from the Italian manufacturer Piaggio, including a 1956 Vespa Struzzo and a Vespa with a sidecar. Erika Laimer Pixner, his wife, also has a passion: Hers is for Schildkröt dolls. Flea markets and gifts have helped her build a remarkable collection of 200 dolls, featuring well-known models such as Ursel, Bärbel, Inge, Erika, Chistl, Elli, Baby Strampelchen, and Hans.

This collection can also be admired. How to get to the museum? The Ungericht Hof is located along the Caines road, about seven kilometres from Merano, and has parking available. Incidentally, Caines also boasts Earth Pyramids, accessible via the Earth Pyramids Trail.
