Predoi Climate Gallery

Breathe easy in the Valle Aurina: the Predoi Climate Gallery - deep breaths in a former mine

The Predoi Climate Gallery offers an allergen- and pollen-free microclimate with exceptionally pure air. It is particularly beneficial for people with chronic respiratory illnesses. Located deep within the mountain near Predoi village, easily accessible by mine train, it's separated from the show mine by just a wall. Inside, you'll find loungers, woollen blankets, and trained attendants, including a physiotherapist. This ensures the two-hour session is both relaxing and restorative.

Colouring supplies are available for children. The high humidity within the Predoi Mine binds allergens and pollutants. You breathe in the cool, 8 - 10 degrees C, exceptionally pure air, which then warms within your body. Repeated sessions in the Climate Gallery ease the burden on the bronchi and lungs, reduce swelling in the respiratory system, and allow for easier breathing.

A two-week programme with daily visits is recommended. This form of therapy is called speleotherapy and is free of side effects. In addition, accommodation providers in the Valle Aurina offer allergy-free accommodation, certified by the South Tyrol Environmental Agency, in the Respiration Health Hotels. Besides the standard "I breathe..." sessions, a "Midday Breather" is available, offering a chance to experience the Climate Gallery at a reduced price.

How to get there: The Climate Gallery (Klimastollen Prettau) is located in the Predoi Mine near the village. Parking is available, and the 450 bus route (Brunico-Valle Aurina) also stops there.
