In the Via Weggenstein road, just above the Arcades of Bolzano, is St. George in Weggenstein, the well-known church of the Teutonic Order. Right next to it are the historic walls of the Deutschhaus, home to SKB Artes - formerly known as Prisma Gallery - in the old town of Bolzano. The rooms are 400 sqm in size, can be used individually or as a unit, include a library and provide a venerable setting for contemporary art, literature, music and architecture in all its forms.
SKB Artes sees itself as a bridge for exchange between artists, curators, art experts from all disciplines, and a diverse audience. Also the request for affordable workspaces and artist studios has been growing in the last years. The South Tyrolean Artists Association provides seven working studios for South Tyrolean artists, each for a duration of thrree years. They are located at the ground floor of the House of the Teutonic Order and are connected by two courtyards.
And how to reach SKB Artes? The Via Weggenstein road joins the north end of the Via Bottai alley (South Tyrol Museum of Nature) and is a few minutes' walk from the old town. The city bus lines stop at the Piazza Walther square, 600 m away, there is also a basement car park.
