MMM Corones

The museum on top of Mt. Plan de Corones “Traditional alpinism” is the latest of the six Messner Mountain Museums

A museum project in six extraordinary places - that's the MMM, the Messner Mountain Museums in South Tyrol. Reinhold Messner's vision was to create a unique mountain museum, and he definitely succeeded. If you'd like to see all of the locations, you can take advantage of the MMM Tour-Ticket, a combined ticket, valid for one year from the date of issue.

The museum MMM Corones was inaugurated in 2015 on top of Mt. Plan de Corones in the Val Pusteria valley, in a building created by Zaha Hadid which offers a spectacular panoramic view. Situated at 2,275 m a.s.l., it is also the highest located museum of South Tyrol. The central topics are the big walls and the life of the mountaineers: The history of alpinism is told here.

The breathtaking panoramic view stretches to the majestic peaks of the Dolomites and all the way to the Lienz Dolomites in East Tyrol in Austria, and to Mt. Marmolada, the highest peak of the Dolomites in the neighbouring Province of Belluno. And how to reach the MMM Corones? The cable car takes you in a few minutes to the top (valley station in Riscone near Brunico).
