The ever-changing exhibitions in the historic Bolzano Greenhouse III of the Schullian Garden Centre
Image gallery: Greenhouse III
On the outskirts of Bolzano lies the traditional Schullian Garden Centre. Franz Schullian, the founder, significantly shaped South Tyrol's horticulture and opened his life's work in 1958. After decades among greenery, vegetables, cacti, and flowers, his daughter Martina took over the business. One thing remained constant, however: the light-flooded glasshouse.
Today, the building known as Greenhouse III (Glashaus III) houses objects and historical photographs, texts, videos, and interviews. The history of ten of South Tyrol's most traditional nurseries and their development over the last 60 years are presented here.
In addition, there are temporary exhibitions. One of these, for example, was the 2020 geranium exhibition, which showcased historical varieties and new cultivars. This flower occurs in a large number of growth forms. A special cultural and natural experience!
How do get to the Greenhouse III: The garden centre is located in the Via Merano road in the district of Gries-San Quirino. Coming from the roundabout towards the hospital, you'll find it after a few hundred metres on the left-hand side (or on the right-hand side coming from the hospital).
