On the outskirts of Bolzano (Bozen), the old-established Schullian Garden Centre is located, one of several in South Tyrol's main town. Franz Schullian, the founder of the nursery, had a significant influence on horticulture in South Tyrol and opened his life's work in 1958. After several decades among evergreen plants, vegetable bushes, cacti and beautiful bouquets of flowers, his daughter Martina took over the business. But one thing remained: the Glass House.
Today the building which is called Greenhouse III displays objects and historical photographs, texts, videos and interviews: The 10 oldest and most important nurseries of South Tyrol are presented, and their development over the past 60 years is portrayed. Many exhibitions are held here, such as the "Geranium Exhibition 2020", where old varieties and new breeds are presented.
A cultural and natural experience of a different kind! And how to reach the Greenhouse III - "Glashaus III" in German, "Serra III" in Italian? The Schullian Garden Centre is located in the Via Merano road in the district of Gries-San Quirino, after the roundabout towards the hospital after a few hundred metres on the left (or on the right side coming from the hospital).
