Explore Fontana Castle in Tirolo, housing an Agricultural Museum and the Ezra Pound memorial site

Just below Tyrol Castle, perched on a massive scree cone in Tirolo, stands the impressive Fontana Castle. A visit is well worthwhile, as a unique museum awaits within its historic walls. In addition to an Agricultural Museum, the complex is also home to various farm animals. Under the direction of Siegfried de Rachewiltz, the museum focuses on ethnology, folklore, and folk art.
Documentaries illustrate agriculture, grain processing and bread baking, butter making, and much more. You'll gain insights into the life of South Tyrolean farmers of the past. Traditional crafts, such as weaving and shoemaking, are presented, preserving them for future generations.
Temporary exhibitions, for example on the potato ("Erdäpfel" in the South Tyrolean dialect), complement the permanent exhibition. How to get to the museum: Fontana Castle is a ten-minute walk from the car park in Tirolo village - a pleasant stroll with magnificent views.
Combine your visit with a hike on the Tirolo Wine Trail or the Tirolo Apple Trail. The Fontana Castle Museum (Museum Brunnenburg) and the castle are open from April until autumn.
