A winery is idyllically situated in the middle of the vineyards of Castelvecchio (Altenburg) at Caldaro. It is the Lieselehof, which some years ago established the Caldaro Vine Museum - "Rebenmuseum Kaltern" in German, "Museo delle Viti di Caldaro" in Italian - here, or more precisely a vine educational trail with 350 different grape varieties from all over the world.
Information boards tell about the vine itself, its country of origin and the various crossing partners. Werner Morandell, owner of the Lieselehof and passionate winemaker, offers guided walks along the vine educational trail, which provide interesting insights into winegrowing, as well as wine seminars and tastings for beginners and advanced wine lovers.
The farm's white and red organic wines are also sold. In the Via Oro road in Caldaro there is also the South Tyrolean Wine Museum, the first wine museum south of the Alps. This makes it the perfect complement to a cultural day in Caldaro, which is all about the topic of South Tyrolean wine. And how to reach it? It is located in the Via Kardatsch road 6, a car park is available.
