On the first floor of a historic building at Bolzano's Fruit Market (Piazza delle Erbe or Obstplatz), you'll find the watchmaker's workshop of Christian Clementi. Here, the knowledge of three generations of watchmakers is combined, and pocket watches as well as wristwatches are expertly repaired and restored. In these premises, Clementi, a watchmaker with over 35 years of experience and an equally great passion for his craft, has established a watchmaking museum that takes visitors on a journey through 400 years of timekeeping history.
The collection showcases watches from various eras and highlights the connection between art and technology in watchmaking. The displayed movements and cases bear witness to technical progress and stylistic changes. Clementi himself guides you through the exhibition, explaining the technological developments and the unique features of the exhibits.
In doing so, he not only provides insights into the intricacies of watchmaking techniques but also encourages a deeper understanding of the essence of time. The Watchmaking Museum in the old town of Bolzano invites you on a fascinating journey through time, technology, and craftsmanship - an experience that offers all those interested an authentic glimpse into the world of watchmaking.
