Christian Clementi's clockmaking workshop is located in Bolzano's central Piazza delle Erbe square. Here, where the knowledge of three generations of clockmakers converges, he repairs and restores pocket and wristwatches. In these premises, Clementi, a clockmaker with over 35 years of experience and an equally profound passion for his craft, has established a Watchmaking Museum. It takes you on a journey through 400 years of timekeeping.
The collection showcases clocks from various eras and the interplay of art and technology in clockmaking. Exhibited movements and casings bear witness to technical advancements and stylistic changes. Clementi personally guides you through the exhibition, explaining the unique features of the exhibits and their technological evolution. He not only provides insights into the intricacies of horological techniques but also encourages reflection on the nature of time itself.
The Watchmaking Museum in the Old Town of Bolzano invites you on a journey of discovery through time, technology, and craftsmanship - an authentic experience for anyone interested in the world of horology. Admission is free, a testament to Clementi's commitment to sharing his passion for clockmaking. How to get to the museum?
It is located on the first floor of a historic building in Bolzano's Fruit Market. Buses stop at the nearby Piazza Domenicani square, just a few metres from the Bolzano Watchmaking Museum (Uhrenmuseum Bozen). There is a multi-storey car park at the neighbouring Piazza Walther square.
