Llama trekking and a petting zoo at the Monte Cavallo mountain station in the Upper Valle Isarco
Image gallery: Rossy Park and Llama-Trekking
Above the town of Vipiteno lies the Monte Cavallo, called Rosskopf in German, a peak in the Stubai Alps. In winter, it transforms into a popular ski resort. The renovated cable car whisks you up to the mountain station at approximately 1,860 metres above sea level in just a few minutes. Awaiting you there is a popular destination: the Rossy Park. This petting zoo is home to donkeys, ponies, miniature sheep, dwarf goats, and rabbits, as well as llamas and alpacas.
In summer, the llamas and alpacas accompany children on a special trek, which has become increasingly popular in recent years: llama trekking. Amidst the mountain world of the Upper Valle Isarco, you'll also find a playground. Last summer saw the addition of the "Rossy Walk," a three-kilometre-long themed trail suitable for pushchairs.
Here, Rossy, the friendly and curious little horse, takes children on an adventurous journey. From the Monte Cavallo you can enjoy panoramic views of the Zillertal Alps, the Sarentino Alps, the Stubai Alps, and the Dolomites. In addition to the Rossy Park, the mountain offers other attractions such as the new Panorama Mountain Coaster and the Skytrek Vipiteno Adventure Park.
How to get there: The Monte Cavallo valley station is just a two-minute walk from Vipiteno town centre. Parking and a city bus stop are available.
