The Original Tiroler Kaiserjägermusik is one of the most traditional and best brass bands in Tyrol. The gala concert in Merano offers wonderful melodies. The origins of the Kaiserjägermusik go back to the field musicians from 1741. The band was allowed to bear the name ‘Kaiserjägermusik’ from 16 January 1816, after a decree was issued by Emperor Franz I to this effect. The subsequent history of the Kaiserjägermusik was very chequered. It was dissolved and re-founded several times. On 25 April 1895, the former Tyrolean ‘Kaiser’ Jäger Regiment was transformed into four Tyrolean Kaiserjäger regiments, each of which was given a band. With the demise of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, the bands of the Kaiserjäger regiments also fell silent. In 1972, the Original Tiroler Kaiserjägermusik was re-established by former military bandmaster Obstlt. Prof. Siegfried Somma. The Original Tiroler Kaiserjägermusik has been considered the musical ambassador of Tyrol for decades and contributes a great deal to the preservation of the military-historical tradition in Austria. With its new bandmaster Norbert Amon and outstanding musicians from more than 30 communities in Tyrol and beyond, the orchestra, which is known far beyond the borders, enjoys a very special status in the local brass music scene.
